Tailoring Class Success

These girls can be very proud of the way that their sewing skills are developing! They are now able to make a wide variety of outfits and have the confidence they need to manage the machines with skill.  It is very exiting to think of how this will help them support themselves and their families in the future or simply be a way that they can produce and repair clothing for themselves that they can be proud of.

Community Computer Classes

We're so happy to see the enthusiasm for learning in the youth in the community we work in. Just simply having the practical application of their knowledge of computers is very rewarding for them.  These skills they are now developing are certain to help them in their futures!

Successful Reintegration

The Youngest Child (5yrs) who was reunited with her mother is doing well in her family. We are so happy with the way this reunification has gone and we are continuing to monitor this process.  Our Monitoring Visit for Follow up showed the mother and child and stepfather living happily together. This girl is attending the local school and making new friends.  She is enjoying getting to know her grandmother, aunty and uncle.

Higher Education Support

The Oldest Child who graduated from our Home is continuing her Studies in Bangalore at Fortis Nursing College in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Course. We have been able to continue this valuable support for her to study to reach her dream of becoming a nurse.  She is progressing well with her studies and especially in the area of her practical involvement.  She is building a good rapport with the other students and hostel staff, principal and teachers at her college. We are very proud of her efforts.

Water Park Fun

On the 16th June we went to Nicco Park with our FreeToBeKids Family. We travelled by bus when we went to Nicco Park.  We were very much excited and happy! We first went to the water pool where we all enjoyed very much.  We played so many things that we cannot forget.  We saw many types of things that we never saw before. After these games we took our baths then we all went for lunch. At lunch we had fried rice, chilly chicken and ice-cream. After lunch we went to play on the rides. Once we finished our rides it was time for us to return home. We really enjoyed our time there and it was great fun and lots of enjoyment we had.  We are very happy now to remember that day.  We hope to again visit there.

Community Health Awareness Program

Vaccination_Community_2.jpg

Recently we ran a Community Health Awareness Program in one of the local areas of Kolkata where we are focussing our work. Through this program we were able to immunise 180 Children and 20 Adults against the deadly Typhoid Virus. It was encouraging for us to see that the highlight for the children who received a vaccination was that they also received an apple and it was obvious this was an unexpected treasured gift for them.
